Recognition for Research Guidance

Dr. R. Jayachandran is recognized as supervisor for guiding research scholars for Ph.D and M. Phil Programmes of the Bharathiar University, Coimbatore.
The other faculty members of SOC are recognized as supervisors for guiding     M. Phil Programme.

Research Activities

M.Phil Viva voce has been conducted for A.Dharmaraj, under the guidance of Mr.V.S.Ravi at 11.30 a.m in Room No:S 207 Commerce Block.

Mr.K.vijesh has participated in the induction programme held from 25.11.2009 to 02.12.2009 and obtained the Grade-A organized by UGC-Academic Staff College. Bharathiar University – Coimbatore-46.

FDP-Programme on Yoga. "Yoga For Health" conducted on 21.12.09.

M.Phil Viva-Voce has been conducted for Hariharan.H, Maheshwari.P, Kalaiarasi.M, Jayanthi.S, Manonmani.G under the guidance of Dr.R.Jayachandran (Director), Ms.D.Sasikala, Ms.S.Nirmala, Mr.R.N.Vivekanandar, Mr.G.Boopathy from 9.30 a.m to 4.30 p.m at A/C Seminar Hall.

Ph.D Viva-Voce has been conducted for Mrs.P.Rajini at 10.30 a.m – 11.30 a.m at A/C Seminar Hall.

M.Phil Viva-Voce has been conducted for Arthi,Under the guidance of Ms.D.Vanitha, at 2.45 P.M in Room No: S-207.

FDP programme has been organized on 7th January 2010, on "Stress Free Teaching" at VM Hall from 2.45 P.M to 3.45 PM.

 Dr. T. Naganandhi has published an article in Reader Shelf, Jan'10 Issue, Volume 6, Issue No. 4 about "Indian Jewellery – The changing retail market in India"

 

MAJOR RESEARCH PROPOSAL

In the miles stone of SOC two major Research projects and six minor projects were submitted to UGC by staff members of soc.

Major (on going projects)

Dr. R. Jayachandran has submitted a Major Research Proposal to UGC on the Topic "A Study on Savings and Investment Pattern of Households in Coimbatore District", and presented at New Delhi on 21.02.2009. The proposal has been accepted and UGC has sanctioned the Grant of Rs. 2, 28,000.

Dr. T. Nagananthi has submitted a Major Research Proposal to UGC on the Topic "Profitability, Efficiency and Non-Performing Assets of State Bank of India and Its Associates", and presented at New Delhi on 21.02.2009. The proposal has been accepted and UGC has sanctioned the Grant of Rs. 4, 66,200.


Minor (Proposal submitted)

Mrs. P. Rajini has submitted a Minor Project on the Topic "A Study on the Demand for Ayurvedic Treatment with Special Reference to Urban Areas of Coimbatore", to UGC – Hyderabad, during the month of June 2009.

Mr. R. N. Vivekanandar has submitted a Minor Project on the Topic, "A Study on The Policyholders Preference and Satisfaction Level of ICICI Prudential Life Insurance with Special Reference to ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company Coimbatore", to UGC – Hyderabad, during the month of August 2009.

Mr. R. Ganeshmurthi has submitted a Minor Project on the Topic, "A study on Customer Satisfaction Towards Freight Forwarders with Special Reference to Coimbatore City", to UGC – Hyderabad, during the month of August 2009.

Mrs. M. GhousiaNasreen has submitted a Minor Project on the Topic, "A Study on the Marketing Aspects of Readymade Garment Export with Special Reference to Readymade Garment Export Unit – Tirupur", to UGC – Hyderabad, during the month of August 2009.

Mr. G. Bhoopathi has submitted a Minor Project on the Topic – A study on creating awareness about the family business to rural women with reference to Theni  District, to UGC – Hyderabad, during the month of June 2009.

Ms. A. Devikala has submitted a Minor Project on the Topic – Trends in production and Export of Tea and Coffee, to UGC – Hyderabad, during the month of June 2009.

Apart from our staff members, the two projects of our students Mr. V. Sabareesh – B.Com (CA), 2006 Batch and Ms. S. Suganthi of M.Com, 2007 Batch have also been accepted by UGC and Sanctioned the Grant of Rs. 5, 000 each.

EXTENSION ACTIVITIES

Faculty of SOC recognizes their social responsibility and contributes towards the betterment of society. A Team of staff viz. Dr. T. Nagananthi, Mrs.  P. Rajini,
Mr.  V. S. Ravi, Mrs. R. Karpagam and Ms. D. Aruna Devi   have  involved themselves into rendering special coaching to the under privileged Higher Secondary School Students, sponsoring education to economically weak students and offering teaching and educational aids to schools. The staff members of School of Commerce have visited the orphanage and contributed an amount of Rs. 2,000 to Anbu Illam.

INDUSTRIAL VISITS

The II B.Com of SOC visited Chips Software Systems Private Limited, Kochi on 13.08.2009 and III B.Com students were taken to an Industrial Trip to TE Testing Solution Private Limited, Chennai on 14.08.2009.

The II B.Com (CA) students went to Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Limited, Mysore on 12.08.2009 as Industrial visit and III B.Com (CA)  students have gone to Media Surface Software Development Private Limited, Hyderabad on 12.08.2009 and EID Parry (India) Limited, Puducherry  Sugar factory, Arriyur on 21.08.2009.

The PG students of Commerce were taken to Siva Tea Plantation, The Nilgiris on 29.08.2009 and International Business students of SOC visited United Spirits Limited, Bethora, Ponda – Goa on 07.09.2009.

The Bhutanese students of School Of Commerce has visited RVS Engineering College at Dindigul and Sempatti.

BLOOD GROUPING

    • On 27th and 28th August 2009, HB TEST CAMP was conducted for two days, for all the students of our department in association with the Bio – Chemistry Department.          

SPECIAL COUNSELLING FOR GIRL STUDENTS

    • The Department has special counselling session for Girl Students.  The Senior Women Faculties of the department will take necessary steps to identify the problems and to overcome the problems with suggestions and solutions.

COMMERCIA

Commercia – 2009, the Marketing Mela was inaugurated by Mr. Maheshkumar, Advocate, Mahesh Associates - Coimbatore at 9.30 a.m. with the blessings of our dynamic Managing Trustee Mr. K. Senthil Ganesh. The surprise Chief Guest Mr. Suresh, Director and Hero of the movie SURANGAM have given us a pleasant presence. There were 14 different and attractive stalls. The stalls were opened and first purchases were made by the HOD's of our College and School Principal.

More than 500 customers of various age categories visited our stalls. The customer includes parents and family of our students also. At the end of the function an attractive game has been conducted namely "Treasure Hunt". The treasure was a ONE GRAM GOLD COIN.  Around 200 students were participated and were trying to hunt the treasure with the tips given to them. Finally the treasure was hunted by Mr. Karthick II BCA, student of our college.
The students of our department who were the members of various stalls learned many practical facts of the business and marketing.  The function was happily ended with the      co-operation of staff and students.
